Motorcycle helmets provide a proven vaccine to help prevent death and serious injury on the roads.

The Global Helmet Vaccine Initiative (GHVI) aims to promote motorcycle helmet wearing across the developing world, working in partnership with governments, the private sector and non-governmental organisations.

Established by the AIP Foundation, and building on the experience of a successful national helmet campaign in Vietnam, the GHVI will work with pilot countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America to encourage the policy changes and investment decisions that can lead to increased and sustainable motorcycle helmet wearing. Initial global partners in GHVI are the AIP Foundation, Center for Disease Control (CDC), FIA Foundation, Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank Global Road Safety Facility. We seek additional partners to help us deliver the helmet vaccine and save thousands of lives in the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020.
