Founded by Greig Craft, now Chief Executive Officer of the Global Helmet Vaccine Initiative, over a decade ago, the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation has provided helmets and education to nearly half a million students, teachers and parents in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Lao PDR. As the pilot organization for GHVI, AIP Foundation will serve as a guiding force on the Global Steering Committee, initiating programs and providing technical expertise to coalitions in target countries. On a regional level, AIP Foundation will continue to serve as the Lead NGO for Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand, disseminating programs throughout Southeast Asia.

The FIA Foundation is an independent UK registered charity which manages and supports an international programme of activities promoting road safety, environmental protection and sustainable mobility, as well as funding specialist motor sport safety research. FIA Foundation will work to promote the Global Helmet Vaccine Initiative to secure new funding partners and build political support for the initiative amongst international donors and institutions and within focus countries. Working through the Make Roads Safe campaign, FIA Foundation will raise the profile of helmet wearing as a key component of the Decade of Action for Road Safety. FIA Foundation representatives will also serve on the GHVI Global Steering Committee, advising on country selection and providing technical support.

The Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) was founded in 1904 in Paris, under the name of Fédération Internationale des Clubs Motocyclistes. In 1912 it was officially established to control and develop the sporting and touring aspects of motorcycling and to assist motorcycle users in those fields. In 1951, the FIM was recognized by the Union of International Associations as a non-governmental international organization. In 1998, it was renamed Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme. In addition to motorcycle sport, The FIM is also engaged in non-sporting activities – tourism, gatherings and leisure, public affairs, or activities linked with sport, such as women in motorcycling; technical, medical and judicial aspects. Last but not least, environment is linked to both sporting and non-sporting domains. In 2010, the FIM gave its first award of the new prize for outstanding work in the field of road safety to the AIP Foundation led by Greig Craft.

The World Bank’s Global Road Safety Facility was launched in November 2005 and commenced formal operations in April 2006. The Facility is a direct response to the global call for action by the United Nations General Assembly to address the silent epidemic on the world’s roads. The World Bank Global Road Safety Facility will sit on the GHVI Global Steering Committee, providing financial and technical support to governing body and the country-level Helmet Vaccine Coalitions.

The Inter-American Development Bank, established in 1959 to support the process of economic and social development in Latin America and the Caribbean, is the main source of multilateral financing in the region. The IDB/IADB Group provides solutions to development challenges by partnering with governments, companies and civil society organizations, thus reaching its clients ranging from central governments to city authorities and businesses. IDB/IADB will serve as a member of the Global Steering Committee for GHVI, advising on country selection – particularly in Latin America – and providing technical assistance where appropriate.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is one of the major operating components of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. CDC′s mission is to collaborate to create the expertise, information, and tools that people and communities need to protect their health – through health promotion, prevention of disease, injury and disability, and preparedness for new health threats. Representatives from CDC will sit on the GHVI Global Steering Committee.
